The basic set up of the game: Dawn of War, Capture points (3) The Bluff behind the river, Rocky hills, Ammunition store. Turn structure-Tyranids won initiative.
Ork Warboss G’arzagg was on the Waaaagh path, terrorizing the great plains of Areus, his boys had a short force advanced before the rest of the troops had roused from their fungus beer rage. An advanced scouting party had left, but only one came back, bloodied and missing half his arm. His last few words before he died was “Dem Bugz is comin‘.”
As his boys arrived on the field they saw little sign of the bugs, a quick assessment was made of the needs for the defensive strategy of a future force. His first set of boyz starts to move into position near a bluff, neatly split by a river only to be ambushed by a group of termagaunts and Genestealers. They barely had an opportunity to level their guns before the genestealers sunk their claws into their foe.
A Bellow was heard over the conflict as the Hive Tyrant proclaimed victory. Meanwhile another squad of Genestealers hid behind an outcropping of raised terrain near a hill. Still in the dim dawn the second group of orks moved forward towards the weapon depot. The whirling big gun was useless as the sun was yet to break the horizon.
As the dawn struck the battlefield, two hordes had surfaced on the field, one a swarming mass of green tide, the other a mass of Tyranids with a couple monsters in their midst. A troop of Nobs arrived at the raised river and a bloody affair happened between the Nobs, their painboy and the Genestealers. Ultimately leading to the destruction of the genestealers. The Termagants unleashed a parting hail of fire but promptly fled back to the hive. The shock attack gun was swallowed by spinning death as a carnifex shot it with a barbed strangler.
As the mass of the Ork army crashes into the genestealers and termagants a particularly bloody battle ensues. The earth on the battlefield turns into a swamp as green blood and purple ichor saturate it. It was appearing that the Orks had a definite upper hand however, as only the termagants hive tyrant and a group of termagants survived, while the orky leader was fried alive by the zoanthrope. The Nobs had taken up position behind the hill and hadn’t budged, holding true to their Orky bosses’ orders. A second group of orks remained defending the weapons depot.
The orks were busy checking out the weapons there when a roar before them forced them to focus on the hive tyrant bearing down on them. Then with a crash behind them they were ambushed on both sides by giants. Eaten alive and orky bits flying, the ‘ard boys were cut down to a man. The termagants took position behind their giants out of range of the nobs withering fire. The one zoanthrope on the field focused fire on the nobs, but as they were so well dug in that it became evident that neither side was going to get the upper hand in this battle.
End result: Tyranids-1 capture point Orks-1 capture point Tie
