And so our merry group got together after a luxurious vacation in the tinker gnomes’ residence. They had fully healed up and decided it was probably safer to evacuate the premises before a major explosion happened. (They had been hearing lots of explosions throughout the week of failed steam powered devices.)
As they were leaving, they asked Glorri if he would provide a protection detail for them, and Glorri agreed. He started pointing out members of the party and telling them to load up on wood. Jumping into the mechanical walker, Glorri followed up with the party.
The party had a primarily uneventful first day. Most of the creatures of the woods were frightened off by the walker, being that it was an alien device that clanked, whistled and shambled along in a way not dissimilar from a troll. However at night, it was a different story.
The party bedded down for the night, being careful to post lookouts. On third watch, the party was ambushed by a group of goblins and bugbears. One of the goblins tried to run, only to get chased down by the monk, while the rest got mired in combat. Gerbo threw some logs on the fire to give more light so he could see.
The party was doing a fair job of handling the goblinoids when a resounding “Boom” came from the back. Something whizzed by the ear of Dumb Dumb and nailed the bugbear infront of him solidly in his forehead. The bugbear died, and the gnomes were cheering excitedly from behind. They had a contraption that equated to a steam powered blunderbuss that went off successfully. Apparantly it was the first successful test run on a highly expiramental device.
The party finished the rest of the goblinoids off and decided since it was nearly daybreak anyways that they would make breakfast, the half-orcs making a breakfast out of goblin bits, and move on. Glorri and his crew went back to their home while the party moved on.
Not but an hour travel back towards the road the party ran into an owlbear. Ferocious in it’s temperment and fearless as well, it didn’t hesitate to attack them. The party destroyed the owlbear and collected various bits of it, then headed down the path to Noki, a sea faring village.
The party entered Noki with no difficulty. The black walls and gates welcomed them with an open maw. In Noki they set to their primary mission: Locating a ships’ captain to get them on the way to the cave which houses the dragon trapped in a polymorphed form.
They found one named Ratscuffle, who was down on his luck and had ran his ship into some rocks, destroying both his fishing nets and leaving his boat in need of repair. Ratscuffle agreed to take them there provided that they can pay for repairs to his boat, a gold coin per head, and also agreed that he would readily accept their patronage again with a 10 gold retainer in the future. The group paid the two gold for repairs and went to the tavern to complete their night.
